Your “Grand Wachau Tour” starts in Dürnstein. The castle ruins 300m above the city are best known as the dungeon of the English King Richard Lionheart. But the city itself also offers a multitude of sights.

After this stop, the tour continues to Weißenkirchen. One of the numerous picturesque places along the Danube.

After a short stop at the Gothic fortified church of St. Michael, past Spitz with its late Gothic church and the Aggstein castle ruins, we come to the picturesque village of Emmersdorf, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the absolute highlight of every tour of the Wachau: Melk Abbey! The Benedictine abbey is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered the largest monastery complex of the Austrian Baroque. Melk Abbey is the undisputed landmark of the Wachau due to its location on a hill that can be seen from afar.

After this visit, the tour of the Wachau takes you through a memorable landscape along the Danube to Krems. The old town of the city is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sights in Krems include the Steiner Tor, a former city gate, and the caricature museum.

Finally, take a boat trip on the Danube. The trip offers you a special view of the landscape and sights of the Wachau. From the deck you will gather unforgettable impressions.

The end of your “Great Wachau Tour” is a visit to one of the typical Wachau wine taverns.
