The “Vienna in the movies” city tour
Your tour starts at the Vienna State Opera. This famous building on Vienna’s Ringstrasse was last seen in the 5th part of the Mission Impossible series with Tom Cruise. Before Sunrise” with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delply was also filmed here.
Your tour then continues to the Vienna Hofburg. Michaelerplatz and the Michaelerkuppel dome are part of this building complex and can often be seen in Hollywood productions such as “Red Sparrow” or “Bad Spies”.
The next stop is the Votivkirche. This neo-Gothic church from the mid-19th century was a highlight of “The Pillars of the Earth”, which is set in the Middle Ages.
Another highlight is the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel. This city landmark was built in 1897 to celebrate Emperor Franz Joseph I’s 50th anniversary on the throne and played a starring role in the film “The Third Man” as a meeting place for Holly Martins and Harry Lime. James Bond was also here in the film “The Touch of Death”.
Afterwards, you will travel to Belvedere Palace, where scenes from “The Woman in Gold” were filmed.
Following in the footsteps of Sigmund Freud, you then visit Café Sperl where scenes from “The Dangerous Method” were filmed. The café is also an important meeting place in “Before Sunrise” with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delply.
The highlight of your “Vienna through a lens” tour is your private guided tour of the 3rd Man Museum. This museum is entirely dedicated to the famous black-and-white film starring Orson Welles.
