This half-day city tour takes you on a musical journey through 19th-century Vienna, tracing the life and legacy of Johann Strauss (son), his family, and their deep connection to the city. Travelling in a comfortable private vehicle, we visit key locations that shaped the world of the Waltz King.

Description of the city tour “Strauss in Vienna – In the footsteps of the Waltz King”
We begin with a visit to the former Strauss apartment on Praterstraße, now a museum dedicated to the composer’s life and work. It was here that he wrote his most iconic waltz, The Blue Danube. The preserved rooms offer a personal and atmospheric insight into his private world.
Our next stop is the golden Strauss monument in the Stadtpark, a beloved photo spot and an emblem of Vienna’s musical identity. Nearby, we’ll see the Kursalon Hübner, where Strauss once conducted his own concerts in grand style.
We continue on to Lichtensteinstraße 6, the birthplace of Johann Strauss (son). Though the building is not open to visitors, a memorial plaque marks this historically significant site. From there, we pass by the University of Music and Performing Arts, one of the world’s leading music institutions, and a cornerstone of Vienna’s classical heritage.
A short drive takes us to the Theater an der Wien, an important opera house where Strauss’ operettas, particularly Die Fledermaus, are still performed to this day.
As the highlight and grand finale of the tour, we make our way to the House of Strauss – The Strauss Experience in Vienna’s elegant 19th district (Billrothstraße 18). This innovative and immersive exhibition presents the Strauss family legacy through cutting-edge multimedia, interactive installations, and original historical artifacts – offering a vibrant, sensory experience that brings the music and its makers to life.
After about four hours, the tour concludes – leaving you with unforgettable impressions of Strauss, his music, and his Vienna.
